As digital transformation and modernization continue to impact industries, many organizations are grappling with how to balance efficiency and scalability with security and stability. To address these challenges, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) updated its Risk Management in IT (RMiT) guidelines in June 2023, providing enhanced guidance for financial institutions to strengthen their cloud risk management strategies. This policy aims to help organizations better prioritize and manage areas requiring careful oversight.
Therefore, we recently held an event in collaboration with our partner, GiAT Infosys, focusing on the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector to discuss the critical role of RMiT in navigating today’s cloud security landscape.
The session featured keynote speaker from EY, Keith Foo, who shed light on the the updated RMiT cloud compliance framework. He underscored the growing significance of cyber risks in the financial sector, guiding the audience through key challenges and risk mitigation strategies in cloud security. Additionally, Ivan Tan, Principal Presales Consultant from Thales, showcased how Thales solutions align with RMiT policy requirements, offering practical insights on fitting these solutions into organizational frameworks. His session sparked an engaging Q&A, further enriching the audience’s understanding.
The event featured with a bonus session on an insightful panel discussion of Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), with Chris Liaw, a guest independent PQC researcher, contributing to the conversation. Moderated by Michael Ho, Thales’ Regional Sales Director, the panel also included Keith Foo from EY and Ivan Tan from Thales, who shared their valuable insights and expertise on the topic. The discussion delved into PQC’s opportunities and challenges, with each speaker offering unique perspectives. Together, they provided valuable insights into future-proofing security strategies, making it a thought-provoking and engaging session for the audience.
We look forward to continuing these discussions and organizing future sessions to explore PQC further, fostering a smoother journey towards Post Quantum Cryptography adoption in Malaysia.
